Maria – Evdokia Wassenhoven works in the Directorate of Restoration of Ancient Monuments, Hellenic Ministry of Culture. She holds a Diploma and MSc in Architecture (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), an MA in Archaeology (with distinction; University College London) and a PhD in the History of Architecture (National Technical University of Athens / NTUA). She received the Petrie Prize of the Institute of Archaeology, London, and a first prize (with T. Bessel) in the architectural competition Europan 7. She has carried out postdoctoral research at NTUA with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. She participated in university research projects on Athens, to which she contributed mainly papers on the historical landscape. Among her publications is The Bath in Greece in Classical Antiquity (publication of doctoral thesis, 2012). She recently wrote a paper on “The Development of the Natural and Manmade Landscape between Athens and the Sea,” and she co-authored papers on the archaeological and historical landscape of ancient Olympia, ancient Thorikos and other archaeological sites and on urban resources in selected neighborhoods of Athens. In the Ministry of Culture she works on various projects in Olympia, Eleusis, Phaleron and Athens.
