Laurianne Martinez-Sève

Laurianne Martinez-Sève is Professor of Greek History at the University of Lille and attached to the CNRS HALMA laboratory (UMR 8164). She is a specialist in the history of the Seleucid Kingdom and the Hellenistic East, and works more specifically on Iran and Central Asia. Her research focuses on two of the main cities in the eastern part of the Seleucid Kingdom, Susa and Ai Khanum. She published in 2002 a study of the Hellenistic terracotta figurines from Susa, and several of her publications deal with the history and material culture of this city. She is also involved in the publication program of the excavations carried out at Ai Khanum by the French Archaeological Delegation in Afghanistan, and is in charge of the publication of the main sanctuary of this town. She has pursued extensive research on the history and manifestations of Greek domination in Bactria and Sogdiana.
